My mum used to get £5 a week Working Tax Credit (came in handy too!).
Now they've given her £78, and after she spoke to the call centre girl (who did her best), she was told that was her complete 2008/9 allowance, but that it would be re-assessed in a few weeks anyway!
Anyone else having similar problems?
First the Government take an extra £52 per year in tax, now they cut the TC's down!

When she completes her annual renewal she may be entitled to more WTC.
They have not cut down the TC's, your mother's income has probably increased to a higher amount in 07/08 than it was in 06/07.
The threshold actually increased a little to £12853.
If she qualifies for the disability element of WTC the threshold is actually quite generous at £19020.0 -
Hi subsonicoyote,
Could you tell me what the threshold means? I get the disability element of WTC.
Thanks0 -
You can earn up to the income threshold before your entitlement is reduced to £0. The threshold is the limit you can earn up to.
The provisional awards are still based on last year's Tax Credit rates (iirc) so it is likely that there will be an increase in the WTC to be paid as long as there hasnt been much of an increase in earnings/income.0
