Vintage clothes at car boot sales?

Evening all!

Does anyone know whether vintage clothes sell very well at carboots? I have a couple of hundred vintage items a friend has given me, and can't really be bothered to list them all on Ebay, so was thinking of car booting them, maybe £2 or £3 per item. Or would it be a waste of time?

Thanks

I have never sold vintage clothing at car boots, but i think you would get more money via Ebay. But i know it will take a long time to list them all. I am sure others will reply and give advice. Good luck, whatever you decide.

    Hi ya,
I've tried selling vintage clothes at the boot sale .... not had much luck with them to be honest ...at our local ones everyone seems to want something for nothing !
You said you have a couple of hundred items to sell ... perhaps you could sell 6 or so items of the same size together ....??
Having said that a friend of mine sells all her vintage clothes seperately on ebay and does really well on them ... it does take her a while to do each "ad" but it seems to be well worth the effort that she puts in.

    Good Luck !!

i totally agree with what peeps say..... i collect and sell vintage items, and carboot is not the best place to sell them..great place to find and buy ...lol..

i would either sell on ebay... or there are specialty sales that happen around the country.... you could hire a pitch in one of these and sell yuor items there... before you put your things out, have a quick wizz round the other stalls and see waht type of prices they are cahrging for similar items to yours so you dont under/over charge...

and also.. just becuase its old/vintage/retro doesnt mean its going to sell for loads of money...it is only certain items/designer labels/styles/condition that fetch the big bucks

Good point from Cooltrikerchick because it depends on what you mean by 'vintage'.

If you mean 'old clothes with huge shoulder pads' then fergedabawtit.

If you mean good quality items in natural materials like wool, silk, cashmere, suede and leather - then you're in with a chance.

If you have items in retro styles that are currently popular (tea-dresses, tank-tops/tight fitting Pringle sweaters for the lads, high-waisted trousers, pencil skirts, platform shoes and boots, anything hippyish) then you'll sell them easily.

But to get a good price the clothes will need to be 'Designer'. And those should go into Ebay for the best price.
