Help please with the timer of an old boiler system

Hi

I have a very old Potterton 'mini minder' timer that controls my central heating and hot water. It has 4 'tappets' on it - 2 blue and 2 orange labelled 1, 2, 3, 4.

Can tappets be removed?

I want just the hot water to come on just once from 3:30 - 5:00 pm and that's it. But by shoving all 4 tappets together the hot water is getting heated a lot longer.

I hope this makes sense. Can anyone help??

Didn't know they were called tappets, but I know what you mean, though not familiar with that model. I don't think they can be removed, BUT intheory you might be able to snap them off so they don't catch on the mechanism, could be drastic especially if you change your mind. A swap to a newer timer should be simple enough.
