Sky+ - solutions with only one cable?

You need 2 cables as far as I know as they give 2 feeds into your sky + box from the 2 LNB's. I you could have 1 super large cable but presumeably they'd need to drill a large cable hole to run the cable inside.

You need two cables connected to the Quad LNB to get the different satellite stations at the same time. You could then feed those two cable cores into one sheaf then have the two connections into the satellite reciever. I imagine that this would be quite expensive to do as it would have to be done properly, one break and everyone loses connection. Sounds like you can afford it in your neighbourhood though.

There is no quad LNB involved, it is a communal dish.

I think that is extremely judgemental - where I live is a 2008 new build with a similar setup - it is not a status symbol, nor an indicator of wealth (in my case!), it is just how a lot of new builds are done.

Yes there is a dual cable that is slightly larger than a standard satellite cable, not sure if they would fit in the space available.;)

But the twin "shotgun" WF65 cable has double the attenuation of "normal" WF100 cable, so the max run is about 20 metres.

You can upgrade a communal dish. I was quoted £320 for the equipment plus £150 for an aditional wire to my flat. Most TV engineers will give you a free quote. If you are fortunate your communal distribution board MAY have a spare port and you would only need to have an aditional cable run.

I bought a PVR instead.
