Free tool to update drivers

Hi all,
I wonder if there is a free program that allow us to scan and automatically update all the drivers on the PC.
After a XP re-install blur by my sister-in-law, I am having to install all the drivers one by one!! There are several, so I wonder if there is a tool to speed up the process.
Also, as the PC is around 8 years old, some of the drivers are really hard to find manually. She lost the original re-installation CD.
Many thanks,

Do you mean something over and above windows automatically searching for drivers online via the device manager ?
If you do something like Driver Detective might help but not sure if it's free now ?0 -

about our best bet is to do google searches for the drivers, and possibly look at things like driverguide (from memory).
Unfortunately any automated tool to find drivers is going to need a huge database and server (if it's going to provide the drivers).
I've had similar "fun" with some of the machines i've had to sort out, and usually managed to find workable drivers after some searching.0 -
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
