Inline skating in Cardiff?
Hi ya, as some of you may know, I have moved to Cardiff in November 07.
Now that the weather is getting better, I'd like to go inline skating again. I have been skating in the park opposite on the weekend, which is not bad, but it would be great to find out about a good 3km-5km safe route with good surfaces.
Any tips?

which park are you currently skating in?
there are some great parks around roath of varying size. a lot are quite flat, although roath park itself has a few hills which rule it out for skating i guess.
large parts of bute park would be do-able (and parts of the taff trail - at least up as far as western avenue)
large parts of the bay are quite flat, although you would have to take more care over pedestrians.
why not log on to the cardiff council website (parks and leisure section) and see if theres any useful info there?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I'm a cyclist rather than a skater but a fair bit of the Taff Trail is tarmac now. Try going from town (just up river from the stadium), up the Western side of the river, cross over the footbridge into Bute Park and just keep going North. I think it's hard surface up to around Hailey Park, possibly even further.
Perhaps try it by bike first to see what you think. It's a great route for a sunny day.
Whereabouts in Cardiff are you? I'm sure somebody could recommend somewhere local.0 -
I've just come back from a family picnic in Cardiff Bay. We cycled along the Taff Trail from Velindre Road in Whitchurch. It's tarmac right the way from the city centre to the top end of Hailey Park. Like I say, I'm not a skater, but it looks like a perfect route to me.0

As you will have noticed PD, the Taff Trail was busy yesterday. It's brilliant to see it being used so much. If you did see us you probably would have noticed. We've got a tandem. I'm captain, my daughter is stoker (although she can't quite reach the pedals) and my son is on a little kiddy seat in front of me on the crossbar. So the three of us are on one bike and I have to pedal for all of us!!
We've got an inset day today, so we're off out again. Wooo, hooo.0 -

me and the OH were discussing that as we walked along - that it was lovely to see so many people out and about walking or cycling with family and friends. we're so lucky having such a well maintained and well sign posted pathway right on our doorway.
bet you've got well toned legs after all that cycling! my legs feel like they are made of stone this morning!!know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

You went past my mum and dad's then!
I grew up on the hill between the golf course and the castle
And then I moved to Grangetown!!
