ipod touch. 16gb or 32gb?

I want to buy my DH an ipod touch for his 40th birthday. I want to get him the best there is. He does not have an ipod at present.
I guess he would use it to listen to music and maybe watch films whilst commuting. wifi would be useful too.

What I want to know is it worth me getting the 32gb one, or will 16gb suffice. The money I saved between the two I would spend on accesories, eg case. So what type of case would be best?
And any other recommendations for accesories.

Thanks for any help.

I've got the 16Gb and with 3 or 4 DVDs and 50 CDs on there (all in high quality) I've still got loads of space free.

One case I recommend above all others is the i-nique (http://www.i-nique.com/detail.asp/d=14/c=134/sku=5055205216607) which is lovely and also has the advantage of being carbon-offset (or whatever...).

I don't know about never - once you start putting movies/films on there, 16GB will not seem so big. I've got about 18GB of music and movies on my 30GB ipod video and i think thats about as much as i'll use for now. But 16GB would just be an annoying size as i'd have to take some movies off to fit it all on. With the extra free space i can have whole series of Lost/Heroes on and still have loads of space left.

Having said that the 32GB is quite a bit more expensive than the 16GB version. It's up to you really.

As for cases, i'd go for one of those tight rubbery skins. they keep it scratch free but aren't sort of big and cumbersome like a large leather case.

I'd also consider getting some really nice headphones as the standard ipod ones are horrible and hurt my ears after 30 mins. But headphones are a personal thing so talk to him about what style he likes.

You are joking! I've only got half my music on a 20GB DAP so, much as I like the idea of the Touch, I'm put off by the 32GB max. Now, if it had a memory card slot ...

It is. Coupled with the recent price reduction on the 8GB iPhone, I'm wondering if there's an inventory clear-out starting for some new product announcements?

Only my music producer friend has ever filled an ipod that I know of.

    Seriously, 16gb is fine.

They reckon it is the cheapest on the net at the moment. Bought from them a few times and never had any problems.
