What i do in my veg patch is use a pair of long handled shears and cut the blackberry off right into the mud. It wont kill it but it is cheap and works for the short term.
We have an elderly neighbour who just cant cope with her garden and they just flop over and grow anyway so not much point beating ourselves up about it.(230 foot long garden so we would never stop )
Half the problem in a wild area is you dont see them till they are already rooted and growing ,so clearing as much as possible and then regular mowing or strimming if its too rough to mow will help keep them down.0
