I just did a quick Google for "dropped kerb cost" and got this from Tameside, which might help: http://www.tameside.gov.uk/kerbdropping#cost
The results came up with loads of councils, so it might be worth checking your own council website?C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0 -
Thanks. Unfortunately Birmingham's prices are a closely guarded secret apparently. It is a cheek that they charge £35 for a quote when other council's have the info for free on the internet!0

f'k my dog. I can't believe your council don't have more productive things to spend their time on. I mean fair enough if you're causing an obstruction, parking a bloody great caravan or works van on your front garden, but this?
Christ, I'm turning... I can feel myself changing... gah, no, someone stop it, arrrrgggggghhhh please help, not this....
"Morning Nasib, not the Guardian today, I think I'll have a copy of the Daily Mail please.""Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.0 -
LillyJ - I have to pay £80 for the quote, which is non-refundable in the event they refuse to install the kerb. That is Waltham Forest council. Incidentally other councils allow approved contractors to install, so you can at least get competitive quotes, but apparently this is not allowed by Waltham Forest. Oh joy!
Generali - couldn't agree more. The paranoid streak in me questions the timing, as I am currently in a claim situation with the council regarding damage to my car in one of their car parks....... Surely just a coincidence??!!!0 -
Call your councillor & the main opposition candidates, see which one will put an end to this stupidity & vote for them."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.

Councils can be vindictive beasts Im afraid. I would just get the kerb dropped. I cant see as how they could charge you for the costs of the bollards but they would certainly be no legal issues with them installing them at the moment. Even with a dropped kerb people can still block your drive so long as your car isnt currently parked in it. Give me 2 idnetical houses one with a drive the other without and I know which one I would buy (but then I do drive)0

It's £80 for the application isn't it? We have to pay an application fee after the quote. Hope it goes well for you they sound pedantic to me!0 -

Actually the opposition candidate can be really helpful in things like this. I had a problem with a parking ticket (long story!) which I didn't deserve, and I got in touch with the labour councillor (we are lib dem round here) and it got dropped straight away after a letter from her office!0 -

If you repeatedly drive over the kerb and pavement that hasn't been strengthened then it will damage it, and the council will have to repair it. And the council gets its money from the rest of us. So ultimately, why should we pay for you to park your car on your driveway.
(But that being said, I think they should certainly make it easier for you to get the kerb dropped.)0 -
does a drive add value? (or stop it being lost at the moment!)
But I believe that the official figures show that having a drive actually reduces the value of a house.0
