provided they have more than 1.6mm of tread and arent damaged in any way, they will be fine.If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

This is a real 'piece of string' question. You might get 50,000 miles out of the rears of a gently driven front wheel drive car. You might get 8,000 out of the same car's front tyres in the hands of an 'enthusiastic' driver.0

The life you get from a set of tyres varies greatly between cars, your typical driving conditions (i.e. mostly motorway more miles, winding country roads less miles) and even the brand of tyre you choose.
Michelin's are designed to give more miles, the manufacturer claims up to 25% more than competitors.
Just don't buy cheap and nasty tyres, it's one thing that really is worth spending the right amount of money on.
1.6mm is legal minimum, anything under 3mm and your wet weather stopping distance is starting to increase. I usually change tyres once they are down to 2mm to 3mm.0 -
Thanks for all your help guys0

the tyre is illegal after 1.6 mm of tread left.
ask the garage to see the wear gauge.
lifetime of tyres all depends on the type of tyre and use it has had....work permit granted!0 -

also the quality of tyres eg. budget vs brand
and any damage incurred to sidewalls etc which can write-off a tyre with a perfectly good tread.;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
The UK legal limit is 1.6mm, in Germany its 3mm. We all want to get our moneys worth from our tyres but having had a couple of scary moments when my tyres were on the legal limit i no longer push them that far. Don't feel obliged to take them down to the wire!! Watch the videos.

Many tyres also have treadwear indicators. For example...
When the tyre is level with these indicators the tyre is at the legal level.0 -
