Five - a device that plugs into a router and then allows you to connect a normal phone to it. The advantages of this are that you don't need the computer turned on to make or receive calls - though the router does have to be powered on - and you can use normal phones, including cordless ones to make phone calls with.

Interesting - I haven't come across one of these for Skype. I have a Linksys SIP ATA at home which I use with my SIPGate account, and I also have a USB-based Skype analogue telephone adaptor (which is now redundant), but I have not seen a Skype ATA to connect directly to the router. Do you have a link?

If you go down the usb route, when you plug the headset set in,does this overide your normal speakers, can you turn your headset speakers off(so you can listen through your normal speakers) without removing the headset usb connection?
If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction.
