nokia pc suite problems

got the CA-42 cable for my 6101 and the cd wouldn't do owt.still using ME ! and used to problems i downloaded a driver and an old version of the pc suite ( 5.8).thinking i must've got the right ones ( looked for long enough)and no error messages everything went smoothly but with phone connected the pc isn't recognising that it is.everything installed ok and when the cable is plugged into the USB it shows up in device manager.tried removing/re-installing everything but it's the same every time.spent most of Saturday trying to get it sorted.

not much use to you, but I had the same problems with nokia pc suite software, spent hours trying to get it working.

I think I used the software from the Nokia website rather than the cdrom that came with the phone then you need to make sure you remove ALL the old nokia files and try the installation again - if I remember correctly, the order in which you connect the cable to the USB port and to the phone is important (sorry cant remember which way round is the correct way?)

i didn't get a cd with the fone possibly cos i was a nokia test pilot ( tested the fone for a while then got to keep it) and i'm not sure it would have been compatible with ME anyway.the cd that i got with the USB cable is supposed to be ok with it but it doesn't do owt-that was why i downloaded the driver.can't download the latest version of the suite from nokia cos again it isn't compatible with ME.i know plenty of people say that they have probs with it no matter what OS they use but it doesn't help me.thanks for replying though
