lurker in need of some ideas

Happy Monday morning everyone!

I was wondering if any of you had any idea of alternatives to markets, chinese supermarkets, pound shops, wilkinsons, green grocers, asda, tesco, lidls and aldi!

I've been lurking here for ages but all the places people use loads we don't have. theres a sainsburys, waitrose and m&s. One green grocers which is very overpriced and they never reduce stuff either, even its going off. And one market which is a snobby farmers market, more of a tourist attraction than anyrthing,

Luckily i dont have to buy any meat, as boyfriends dad is a butcher. Unfortunately this takes up all the freezer space we have in our student house.

I guess an online shop would be best. But its mainly fruit and veg, thats the problem, as theres a box under my bed of dried lentils, beans etc that i sneak into the trolley when shopping with mum in holidays!

any ideas? thank you for reading and helping!

  • Maybe you could look into having a veg box delivered? There's some threads on them on here. I don't think that they are the cheapest option but the quality will probably be better. Have you done a search to check that there isn't an asian/chinese supermarket near you? Often they tend to tucked out of the way.

thanks for your help.quirkychemistry there is unfortunately definetly no chinese supermarket here. They opened one recently on campus after such high demand from all of the Asian students. Unfortunately it only sells white rice and packets of noodles. Neither of which i will eat. ( i've stopped eating egg noodles because they are made with battery eggs which i don't agree with).

Squeaky, thanks for the links. I looked at the map one and all we have are several organic cheese shops, a sausage shop and a fudge shop!

I cant help but feel with the amount of fruit and veg i eat a veg box would be extortionate. I've already had 4 pieces today!
