Has anyone got Abbey CC to reduce APR?

Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone had had any joy in getting Abbey to reduce the APR on their CC account? I'm about to have mine increase from 15.9% to 19.9% and don't relly want to pay that. I've just spoken to somone in india who told me that all the banks increase APRs as a matter of normal practice, just like the BOE base rate lol... I told her no they don't, but still, they wouldn't budge. I was wondering if anyone knows the retention phone number for abbey or if they had sucessfully gotten them to reduce an APR?

I'll be ringing virgin next week to transfer and bye bye abbey if I don't get anywhere, so it's not a massive problem :)

Is your card issued by Banco Santander or mbna? If it's an old card, your Abbey card may have been issued by mbna , who also issue Virgin card and are also upping their interest rates.

It was originally MBNA, but it's been Santander for at least 6 months now.
Virgin haven't upped my rate yet, in fact they are offering me a 2.9% on purchases offer at the minute.......

Phoned them, no luck...will move balance to another CC and cancel.
