already posted on the Shop but don't drop board a few times before. Will move this over there so it can be merged.
  • Well, after Ebuyer kept my order on hold for a while, then took payment, then gave me a delivery date, then I called to chase where it was, they said that although they had taken payment and given me a delivery date, the items were actually out of stock but if they could just keep my money for another 10 days then they should be getting some more in.

I asked for my money to be refunded (to be told it would take 3 days) whilst they waited for new stock, which they said they would do and the next thing I know is my order is showing online as cancelled and saying I was to re-order if I still wanted the item(!!!)

As you will see, the link I gave originally is no longer active so I cannot reorder so just be careful that you may wait like I did (on-hold for 26 minutes before talking to someone) and then just by asking for a refund whilst they wait for stock your order may well get cancelled and you may not be able to reorder.

Anyway, after my ordeal, is anyone else aware of other DVD recorders similar to this that are sub £100? I do like the idea of using timeslip on DVD-RAM discs although that feature missing from another player wouldn't stop me buying if it was at the right price.

    Any suggestions welcome :-)
  • i was one of the lucky ones, never had any problems with ebuyer but have read a couple of bad experiences.

however i am mighty impressed with this recorder, i dont think any of the budget ones could touch this for the quality of it. especially the dvd-ram which gives a similar function of the hard drive recorders imho.

I would honestly try and wait for this as you wont be dissapointed, especially at that price.

I ordered 2, both came without remote controls, one is all scratched and the other makes a loud ticking noise. They're both going back, so if the stock shows as 2 next week, beware!
  • Thanks for your replies.

Thanks for the heads-up booogle, hopefully you didn't have to wait as long as I did (on-hold) before sorting out the returns!

A guy I know got his too but he said there was no SCART lead, no manual and no IR eye(?) with it either so he has to get back in touch with them.

Doesn't sound too promising, I really would like this unit, esp with the warranty but I just doubt I would ever forgive myself for using this company if anything went wrong in the future (assuming it turned up complete when I ordered it in the first place!).

I had similar experiences a while back with scan.co.uk but that's a whole other can of worms.
  • For the 2 dvd recorders, I had 1 manual 2 rf leads, no scart leads, no remotes and 1 IR eye. They were clearly units that users had had at home for a while and had then gone wrong and been returned. There were envelopes in the packaging with the original owners names and addresses etc.
  • I ordered one an paid the least amount for shipping which meant it took about 8 days. Seeing as I have been thinking about a DVD recorder for months and months anyway, another week wasn't going to make any difference at all.

It arrived last Monday. It was totally complete with no significant marks on it and works a treat. The picture quality is very good and I am very pleased with it.

Many thanks to whoever it was who first posted the retails of this bargain.
  • Does anyone know if i can link my video up to a dvd recorder and copy whats on the video onto DVD (I have lots of family videos that I want to copy to dvd)

    Hope someone can help me.

    Cheers
If Tescos and Asda are lowering prices every day,
how come nothing is free yet? :rotfl:

Lou, I'm sure this would work, you'd just need a scart lead (which is the fat black cable with 21 pins in each of the big plug ends).

It does work, but there's still a bit of trial and error before it works. Make sure you get the DVDrecorder set up on the right channel. My experience with a Philips was that I had to read the manual cover to cover before I could find out exactly what to do - the relevant pages were all over the place, not in a single section.
Also, make sure you read how to finalise the DVD, when you've filled it up. You can fit loads on - up to 6 hours - and you should finalise it when you've finsihed.
