iTunes short cut. not connecting.

Hi as you can see from the title, i am not at all IT. I have itunes on the shortcut or what ever it's called, yesterday i did manage to get into itunes to burn a cd, however today i just cannot connect to itunes. i have clicked on it on the desk top, and all the shortcut does is give a little twirl and then the mouse pointer resorts to the arrow. The egg timer thing, comes on for about 3 seconds then disappears. I know that i haven't used the correct terms, and used the idiots version of the tecnical terms, but i hope that someone can just about understand what i am on about. Basically how do i get connected back to itunes again please... Sorry about waffling on.

Try looking in Start > Programs > iTunes

(ie the Start button on the bottom left, then select Programs, then iTunes.)

If that does or doesn't work we can go from there.
