Hi
I have just sold some golf clubs and I offered the option of collecting (I normal state cash only for collection, but forgot to put it on this listing).
They have been bought by someone fairly local who wants to collect and who is insisting they pay by paypal.
I have said fine, but I will post them because I know that I leave myself exposed if not for them saying they haven't arrived.
How do I stand, because I didn't make it 100% clear in my listing that it would be cash on collection? But, they didn't clarify either.
This is an expensive item that I am selling for a friend - I would hate someome to pay by paypal, collect and then me end up with a chargeback!
Thanks
Donna

You are exacly right, if they want to collect only accept cash, otherwise post them. Just let the buyer know that it is for security reasons..0 -

why not get a family member to discretely take a photo of them leaving cluching the golf clubs?
A bit difficult for them to say they have never received them!0 -

It isn't accptable to Paypal as 'online proof of tracking', there isn't a way round it for Paypal purposes..0 -
perhaps send them a link to the pp T&C's about collections?
to show a genuine reason0 -
It might not be acceptable as online tracking, but surely if the buyer starts to claim he hasn't got the goods, then is informed you have photographic evidence, he would drop it under threat of prosecution for fraud?0

Any self respecting scammer would have those possibilities covered! It's not always that easy to prove someone doing something by having a photo of it, especially as photos are so easy to edit and alter. To be fair, its highly unlikely to happen, but there isn't any point in leaving yourself open to fraud..0 -
