Do they know anything about you other than your IP address and (possibly) who your ISP is? Can they take an IP address to court? No.

Can they demonstrate that you have entered into a contract with them? No.

Legally, do they they have a leg to stand on? No! Just ignore it, or if you can be bothered, tell them that you will consider any further contact with you to be harassment.
  • You need to clear that off the pc, dodgy site once vistied, hard to get rid of though..yes ignore it for now.

Agreed - irrespective of the legal situation, if your PC has malware on it that is producing these popups, you need to follow the advice at the top of the Techie board to ensure you can find out where they are coming from...

Seems to be some kind of scam, another url to them is: getfilmsnow.com I would avoid visiting that one as well if I were you. You don't seem to owe them anything and like the other poster said, as long as they can't find you they can't make you pay anything. The key seems to be to not communicating with and giving them any details about yourself.

Here's some more reading for you:

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

If anyone has any internet law knowledge it would be greatly appriciated

Lee - having seen what's been going on from your blog, I hope you succeed in fighting the legal action.

You might get lucky and get some useful legal advice here, but I doubt you will.

IMHO, you should consult a professional adviser if you haven't already done so. Several years ago I lost a legal case in which the other party used a lawyer and I didn't. From a logical point of view, their lawyer's legalese mumbo-jumbo didn't make any sense compared to my plain-worded statements, but they still won.

    Good luck!

I read ad saying free downloads so downloaded software. on downloading I noticed it said monthly charge nearly 30 pound,
there are loads download sites this has to be the dearest.
a much better site is GRABOID. download 4gb of content for FREE.

When I found out it was a paid site I unistalled software. I got no messages etc.
3 days later pop up came onscreen, I searched files and deleted all platte items.
still turned up so went in to reg and cleared that,

I have emailed 3 times and only get email saying you used service PAY.
even though I found a cancel form and cancelled they want payment for the whole coming month.
I have email that I am not paying for a service I have not used and have deleted from my computer and will not use.

Ive told them Ill see them in court and I would inform police for trying to obtain money by deception. if they continue to demand payment.

    yours david
