Laptop graphic card help needed Please

I hope someone can help the graphic card on my laptop has packed up completely. Does anyone know how I can find out what would be a compatible replacement? I have run direct X diagnostic to try and identify my graphic card but it is so knackered that it is not recogising the card at all.

My laptop spec is

siemens amilo A1667

mobile athlon 64b processor 3400+, MMX, 3DNow, 800mhz

I want to try and buy a cheap replacement from ebay but it is tricky to know which will be compatible.

Thankyou all in advance

How has your Laptop's graphic card packed up completely if you can run diagnostics on it and see them on the screen?

  • Well my laptop would only boot up with a blue screen. Managed to boot up in safe mode. Apparently this problem has occured before on this type of laptop so disabled graphics card drivers. Laptop booted up as normal but has lines down first and third quarter of the screen. Having asked around and doing a safe reinstall of XP etc my only conclusion is that the graphics card is cooked. This laptop seems to run very hot so maybe that is what caused the damage.

Not many laptops come with "seperate" graphics cards would double check on this info as a standard pci-e gfx card will not fit.
tbh sounds like the drivers have just screwed up, try re-installing them or doing a factory restore
