Question then, can you do this deal and cancel straightaway? ie do it for the freesat thing phone em up cancel then no more contract ie cheap freesat and even cheaper installation for true freesat (BBC/ITV edition) just buy another box :)

Sorry but you've lost me there
I'm trying to understand the point your trying to make

I did everything by the book for the 6 month deal and still got threatening letters saying debt collection agencies were being sent round. Don't trust them at all. Make sure you keep all the paperwork and don't bother ringing up. send them emails so there is a record of the correspondence. This is nothing but a con trick to scare people into a 12 month cantract.
I think that the new deal is different to the current one.
Next time your in Currys or dixons take a look at the wording on one of the £75 packs
I think that if you follow the conditions to the letter they'd find it hard to wiggle out of it.
If they give me any problems I'll be going straight to trading standards.

Remember to always log the time and date of any phone calls and always ask both christian and surnames of everyone you talk to.
Better still, record the conversation if you can

I mean do they make you wait a certain period before you cancel.

If you were to get the freesat thing from ITV/BBC this would surely be a cheaper way than any other installation and you'd get a spare box (which you could watch C5 on)
Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....

I think the answer to that is obvious. :D

As I understand it the Sky £75 deal is currently around half the price of Freesat and I think you get more channels. You certainly do get channel 5
You MUST cancel the four "mixes" they say they give you free for the first four months.
Dont make the mistake of waiting the full 4 months though. Thats one way they have to get you. You have to give one month notice to cancel which means cancelling before the end of 3 months. Otherwise you will find yourself paying £19 a month.
Do it right and you'll never have to pay anything above the initial 75 quid.

I had this installed in January - I sent a cancellation letter in March. I deleted the direct debit just after. My extra channels vanished about 2 weeks ago. They did stress to me to cancel at least 1 month before the end of the 4 month trial. So far it seems fine.

Just a thought - does anybody think I could get this deal again and have it installed in a bedroom? This would cost less than Sky multiroom in the long run. Our TV reception is terrible - loads of trees around - otherwise I wouldn't bother with all those cr*p satellite channels in a million years!
