I have been waiting for freesat for about 2 years now, looking forward to the pvrs coming out this Summer and installation is about £75 for new dish. Unsure if you can use old Sky dish the small digital ones or not, as house add Sky and we dont wont it

yes you will be able to use your old sat dish

the above offer is actually quite good even if you want freesat

i.e. take offer from sky for £75

then buy a freesat box and plug it in

this is actually cheaper way of getting freesat installed than buying direct (from prices in argos anyway)...think the price for freesat installation is £100

    therefore saving £25

No as appealing as freeview (if you can get it) IMHO

No five or its subsidiaries, no that I watch it a lot but it does seem a bit of an omission.

They'll appear on it eventually I'm sure. Just wait until it gets popular.

do you get sky one in with the free channels?

No - Sky 1 is a paid for channel. In order to maintain this channel after the first 4 months, you would need to take a minimum package - which I think is currently £16.00 pm.

    I agree.

I think it is a shame that you can't get at least what is on freeview at the start-up of this new service.

Will be interesting to see how it fairs, I know that they are keen to push HD as a selling point.

Hopefully it will mean some offers from Sky to compete! (Wishful thinking perhaps)

The current offer is an effort by Sky to compete.

surely the current offer from sky the o/p suggested is better, a lot more channels, ok u may not watch them all, but loking at the list of channels that will be available on freesat, i would probably watch about 5 of them, and the sky offer is cheaper

I would advise anyone going for this to avoid giving their DD details to Sky. They will try to get them saying that then you can order extras easily etc, but when it's time to cancel you may well find that they start to bill you (despite what the packaging says, and what's said on the phone now) and it's a battle to get this sorted out.

Contacting Sky for this deal is via an 0870 number which is not the normal one (so you can't use an alternative number from SayNoto0870).

I took out the previous 6 month deal, but I think this advice still applies.

Dont forget you can cancel a direct debit at any time
Unlike direct debit companies can still go on taking money from your account if you pay by credit card. I've had some bad experiences there.

So the obvious advice is where you have a choice pay by DD
When you know your fully paid up for the service your receiving and want to feel secure just walk into your branch or phone your bank to cancel
