Oyster Or Travelcard - Family of 4 for a weekend

Could anyone clarify what would be the most cost efficient cards to buy for our forthcoming weekend in London?
We are 2 adults, with kids aged 12 & 14 needing tube access for Saturday & Sunday (zones 1-4).
Although the Oyster seems to offer good value if you are an adult, the 1 day Travelcard at £5.90 seems best if you can buy a kids ticket for £1.
Am I correct in my understanding that the Travelcard would be best or am I missing something that would make the Oyster a good deal when including the kids?

I would have thought that the travelcard option would be best. If you have a family railcard you can use it to get a further discount on the travelcards. As far as I am aware, child oyster cards need applying for, cost £5 'admin' fee, and then take something like four weeks to be processed, so you may not have enough time to get these anyway.0

The £5 fee for child photocards for use with Oyster was abolished earlier this year. They still take a while to get though.
However in your circumstances the travelcard is still cheaper given the £1 a child offer. There is no family railcard discount for it .0 -
The adults get daily travelcards as that ensures they are entitled to use the offers on https://www.2for1entry.co.uk
The children get the £1 per day travelcards0 -
Thanks everyone, looks like Travelcards are best for me0
