Is this Mince safe?

I bought it yesterday from Iceland, it's sell use by date is the 29 april 08. It looked fine until i turned it into a pan and it was a bit brown in a few places with a smell, not horrid off smell but just a teeny bit. Is it safe to use? Hurry up please it's cooking now

The browny bits are just where the meat has oxidised, it's not dangerous and it just happens when it's exposed to air.
As for the smell, it depends what it was - if it's a sort of sweetish smell (or a cow-y smell) a lot of mince smells like that, I wouldn't worry. If it smelt nasty, then obviously don't eat itAnyway, smelling food is no way really to tell if it's off.

Hi. If I have some meat I'm not sure about I cook it and then smell it once cooked, normally it's fine., pork and chicken I'd be very wary if it has a slightly tainted smell, but beef and lamb is normally ok to eat.hthGE 36 *MFD may 2043
