Hi all, i need some help. I am planning a BBQ party for my daughters first birthday, in a months time.
Its nothing big, just a few friends and family and a bunch of kids
I was hoping someone could direct me to a site that i could get some cheap wine and beer from?
Or maybe even some ideas on the best place to buy bulk food and drink ( im in Kent, Nr Ashford) at a good price?
I have suggested that people bring there own drinks (alcoholic) but would like to have some as im the host!
Any help would be great and very very appreciated :rotfl:

Hi
Have you got a good butchers near you that does decent sausages, burgers etc ?0 -
Tesco do a good BBQ range, 2 for £5. Saying that, we went in last week, and they had reduced a lot to £1.50 a pack, so I filled my freezer for the summer!
If you know anyone who is a Guide or Scout Leader, we can use our warrants at Booker and Makro for day passes. They do catering packs of BBQ stuff.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Ashford? That's near Dover isn't it?
A day trip to Calais should get you all the cheap booze you want

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Me and my boyfriend regularly have bbqs and the way i keep costs down is to make most things myself.....eg burgers, you can buy mince beef and make twice as many for half the price of gross ready made ones.
Also make you own chicken kebab skewers, that way you can accomadate for all your guest...just chicken ones, chicken and veg and you can use different marinades which i have to do because my bf and his mates love spicy food buyt my best friend is allergic to chillies lol. They are also much cheaper than ready made ones and tastier too
To keep the costs down you could provide jacket spuds and chilli......these usually go down well at ours as my mum is dieting and so are some of her friends so they like the healtheir options."More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them." - Harold J. Try a visit to your local Iceland, very good deals :j0 -
Try Aldi and Lidl, I have been very impressed with their food ranges, especially Aldi. also Netto's fresh and cooked meat range is very good. Forget the snobbery and take a look.
You can buy reduced short dated goods in advance and freeze them until needed. That's what I have done in the past. We have had many BBQ parties where costs have been very reasonable, and very MSE.0 -

Seconded - not sure if they did but they used to do 'BBQ bags' with chicken/sausages/burgers etc in.
I also recomend a trip to Farmfoods if you have one, they do some fantastic prices on brand named stuff.
Thanks, this is a great help as a farm foods and iceland just up the road :rotfl:0
