LHA? if i own a share of family home?

hi, long quesion

i own a quarter of 2 properies back in wales with my family, dad lives in one, sister in the other. I live away permanently in cheshire on an aprenice salary so find it hard to make ends...my landlords selling up and cheapes place i can find is £360 a month (shared house). when i try calculating housing benefits /LHA it asks if i have any savings including property. As sis and dad dont pay me rent i dont have an income from those properies, will this entitle me to LHA??? im already claiming WTC so know i wont be enitled to much.

also does anyone know if Adult learning grant allpies to me? only criteria i dont meer is 12 pr wk college, its more like 10 hours a week.

You do have property even though there's no income from it. The value is your percentage of the equity in the family home.

The obvious answer to your first point is that you should get sis and your father to pay you some rent! If they don't want to do this, perhaps they could buy you out and you could use the funds to subsidise your training.

As far as the ALG goes, I'm afraid that you're only eligible if you're a full time student, which you obviously aren't.
