Accessing the internet for validation

Hi

I am running AVG 8and the windows firewall, and I want the settings that if a progamme accesses the internet I can either allow or disallow access.

I am running a programme that is old and it automatically connects to the internet and says my password has expired, and offers me an update version, but I dont want to.

Most programs allow you to stop it from auto updating look around in that programs menu's for options, preferences or settings to see if it allows you to stop auto updates.

Failing that using a 3rd party firewall program that allows you to allow/prevent internet access for individual programs is the answer. Zonealarm free edition is one such example.

Do I need AVG as well as Zonealarm installed will one of them do?

Zone Alarm is a firewall and AVG an anti-virus/spyware program - two totally different things! Read the Help info, for the programs that you have installed.
