After you have clicked on it, make sure you then click on CHAT in the top links, this will resolve your issues.0

does mark all posts mark them as read? prob a stupid ? but i never known what it does.. :-[0

It removes all the "NEW" labels from the new posting's, but as has been pointed out by Traf when you click it it seem's to continually mark the post's as read.
I have found clicking the CHAT link enable new post's from that moment onwards to be marked as "NEW"0 -

If you want to change things, go to profile cae (which means "field" in Welsh). As for getting your bit on the side...
