Belkin wireless router thingy

ok, am about to go broadband.

have plumped for the

belkin f5d7633uk4a adsl2+ modem with 125mps wireless-g router
£68.93 at pc world

the reasons being:

1 - lifetime guarantee in case it goes wrong during its useful lifetime
2 - adsl2+ so that when/if its available, it'll have increased longevity as a product
3 - seems reasonable when compared to other adsl wireless routers (if very slightly more expensive but see 1 above).

my ibook has built in normal 'g' wifi so i won't get the added benefit of the super-g malarky.

my question is this... am i doing the right thing for the above reasons or should i be getting something else? if so, what?

you have two hours and you may turn your papers over... now! :D

I know you're not buying from them.. but there are some reviews here you might want to read. it may not be a s futureproof (or even present proof) as they wud like you to believe.

Another one to look at is the Netgear DG834G. I had an older model before getting a Draytek, but it was very good and easy to configure. I'm sure you'll get plenty of other people recommending it.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
hmm. i'm a bit worried now!

the thing that has me hooked on this is the lifetime guarantee. i realise that in reality this means not that long but i've heard lots of good thigns about belkin's support and thought that this may be a good one to go for.

anyone got a belkin router? :s

Belkin are generally very good. A lifetime warranty isn't really necessary though due to the speed at which technology changes. Within 5 years it would be outdated and you'd be looking at getting something new anyway.

  • Just bought a Belking wireless router, not sure the exact model from dixons around £54, not the best price but wanted it quick. Had no problems, 3 minutes to install once id cleared the ****** spyware off nicking my bandwidth! So I would recommend their products, but thats just based on my experience.
