Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) conversion
It's quite annoying that the forum cuts off 'GAS' and 'LPG' because it's too short to search for!
I have a ford fiesta that I do around 10-11,000 miles per year in. It is W reg, petrol 5dr 1.3i finesse. I've seen lower fuel prices and sometime last year I investigated grants to bring down the cost of a conversion to LPG.
But is it worth it - ignoring convience - due to these rising petrol prices? I've now had to tax people who get in my car to make up the shortfall in my pocket (those scrounging mates of mine deserve to pay the cost!)
I've had quotes for around £1,700 - just £300 off the total cost of my car!
To get into my local town (a 10 minute train ride) I pay £3.20 return on the train or £2.80 bus (45 minutes!). I'd cycle it (7-10 miles), but I'm just too lazy and I tend to transport large items backwards and forwards.
Or, alternatively is there another form of "safe" transport I can invest in? Motorcycles/scooters are right out :- (

On that type of car no it's not worthwhile - highly unlikely you'll get any form of grant and it would be several years before the cost of the conversion had even paid for itself in fuel savings0
