Sunday 27/04/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will:
  • Check online banking
  • Clicks
  • storecupboard lunch
  • Try and have a no spend day.
  • Cooking roast dinner for oldies so will be eating for free.
  • Clean house through with stardrops and microfibre cloths.
  • Sort out last years summer clothes in wardrobe for hols in a fortnight and see what I NEED to buy for this year.
  • Same with toiletries etc - need to check out what we already have and not let OH go out spending a fortune on sun cream:o
Have a good day everyone. It has been raining solidly here since about 4am:mad: so no chance of getting anything done in garden today.

Hi to all the regulars:hello: :hello: and hi to any new posters:wave:

    Good morning everyone

The dog got me up early for his walk today so I have already checked my online banking.

I'm off to the local carboot sales to try and pick up some toiletries I need.

When I get back I plan to do my first set of daily clicks (woohoo) and monitor my eBay auctions

Eternal Optimist I was the same. Now I only buy books from car boots or charity shops (or go to the library of course) and I reckon I am saving £30ish a month! Scary thought but I actually enjoy the books all the more for it. I then sometimes sell them on eBay or re-donate to charity shops so I'm also reducing clutter at home. When I paid £8 a book I didn't like to then give it away a week later. Now I'm only paying about 50p I don't mind!

    DFW actions today-

~NSD except for grocery shopping but I have a list (and have done a meal plan) and it won't cost more than £20, and will do us for the week.

~List more items on eBay- have had a great eBay weekend so far so will keep it up- I continue to be astounded by what people will pay good money for!

~Going to the cinema using free vouchers from O2- the best bit is not only do we have free entry, but we also have vouchers for a free drinks and popcorn!

~Off to gym in a bit which is an extravagance, but it is already paid for and at least while I am there I am not in the shops (plus I desperately want to lose a few pounds (lb not £)!

    Enjoy your sunday folks.

unfortnately i have to but a mother and baby magazine for some uni work so that will be something, but i will be buying the cheapest.

it's a shame that i don't know any one here who is preggers so i could borrow onr for the day really... (i suppose i could stand in the shop and read one but the shop keeoer is well fit, and i don't want him to think i'm pregnant as then he may never ask me out, i live in hope ;))

but yesterday i did get £30 of my sister for babysitting so it'll sort of be free...

    Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

  • Yes, I forgot to mention using the library, that is a place I didn't use much prior to my 'conversion':A :rotfl:

I do still ask for books as pressies at Birthdays and Xmas though....I guess the smell and feel of a brand new book still has a hold over me though;)

Well done on your ebaying and you'll enjoy the cinema experience all the more because it's FREE:j :D :rotfl:

Thank you for your post, it was inspirational to many of us I'm sure:T

YES!!! It surprised me at first that I was actually looking for things to organise, tidy up or improve, and enjoying doing it.
I think that as we take control of our money we free up time & energy to take control of everything else. It's a great feeling :j :j :j

Today I have finished the washing, doing 1 tumble load .

Ironing this afternoon will mean that we all have clean clothes for the whole week. (I realise we have far too many clothes now I am permanently on top of the laundry cycle)

Will feed the family form the menu plan, everything is 'in stock'

I have tidied the kitchen so that nothing gets left to waste

    Must finish the mending :o

Did my quidco clicks and Pigsback comps
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
