Egg Money card - have I been declined?

Hi all

Just tried to apply for the Egg Money card online, as an existing Egg customer.

Got to the stage of putting my bank and salary details in and pressed Next for a decision.

All I got was a page with the words "sorry, we can't continue with your application due to problems at our end" and the only option was to log out!!!

Does this mean my application has been declined? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I don't know whether they're just using a euphemism to let me down gently - if I've been declined I won't try again, but if it's genuinely a problem at their end I will.

Any ideas?

Not to worry as it's almost certainly a server issue. If it's a no you get told clearly it's a no! :)

    Try again later or tomorrow.

Thanks for the swift reply... any idea whether or not the credit check will have been initiated, ie if I try again will another check go on my credit record?

I don't know - but I know the site is going to be down for essential maintenance at 12:00 tonight, back up at midday tomorrow. Perhaps they're closing it down early. I would think they would be more direct than just closing you down, however.

Also, I've had a few problems with Egg Money lately - so I recommend that you keep an eye on them. The problems were slow movement between Egg Money to Egg Savings or vice versa, which had to go to the 'Specialist Team'.

I wouldn't do anything until I'd spoken to someone in 'authority' on Monday morning to find out if a search has already been made.

If it has, then a manual (telephone) application/completion may be possible, with the underwriter erasing any second search made.

I doubt it. I think once you clicked next, the server bounced the request straight back without doing anything. So I'd try again after noon tomorrow if there's maintenance going on.

But I agree it's always a worry when you're making a financial transaction online and the site crashes on you half way through. You never know what's been accepted and what hasn't.
