Download streamed videos?

Hey everyone

I know theres a lot of programmes out there that can do this - i wanted to download 2 videos from 2 different websites (animation VDOs on proteins for my revision) - but they are both streamed :(

One is streamed as an .asx file (when I right click the screen for properties)
On the other site - I cannot right click the screen for the stream properties as its been disabled

any idea how I can respectively download both these videos?

many thanks

    Yes there are.
But you asked a generic question and just got a generic answer.

oh ok well I tried to be specific as possible - a good programe which isnt too big and is simple to use - just I can paste in the .asx link and download the wmv file (I need a reliable one as many do fail on downloading)

the other programme I need is one where I can capture the video from the stream without knowing the .asx link (as it wont let me right click the stream for properties)
so for example just pasting in the web address for the video and being able to download the .wmv file in this case?

or is there a programme out there that can do all of this & more?
    hope its more specific now
    thanks
  • A programme then , I use http://www.metaproducts.com/ Offline Explorer

30 day trials should help to get what you want in that time, cheap too.
Version 5 is on free trial time limited till June 08 also just got it.

stick to my first answer. most embedded videos aren't WMF, the tools with firefox are dead easy to use, and free forever...

AutoScreenRecorder will record streamed video to a choice of window sizes, and it's free.

found an even simpler way lol

I just went into my hidden temp. internet files and found the video by fluke - seems the stream stores a hidden backup copy on the hardrive
