I am not a technical person but I do know the basics to Microsoft Office but I am stumped at the moment with the problem I am having with Outlook 2003.
I can open Outlook and send emails with no problems, but when I try and close the program it will not totally close. The program cannot be seen on the screen but the Outlook icon appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen next to the clock. The program is still running as when I receive an email a desktop alert appears.
The problem is that I am receiving a number of spam  so I usually screen my emails through Mailwasher and the delete the spam before it reaches Outlook.
Can anyone tell what is happening and how I can close Outlook down?
Many thanks for any advice.

If you remove mailwasher does the problem still exist?
Have you tried Detect and Repair under the help tab within outlook itself.0
