I used to cycle 7 miles each way on a hilly route to work. Luckily the firm had staff showers. The ride itself was pretty easy after a few weeks. I could guarantee to be at work or home in 25 mins in outer London traffic.
If it`s just to save money and not for fitness, you could look at the electric bikes or a 50cc scooter.0
