BR tax code?

My apologies if this has been done before but I could find nothing in my search.

I arrived in London last June, started working fulltime in September. Didn't claim any benefits.

I am still in the same job and earn 18,000 a year for an entry level position. Last month I asked the HR manager about my tax and she gave me a P46 to fill out as I had no P45 for her in September.

I am still on a BR tax code and from people tell me that's still not right.

1) Will it be fixed eventually to a regular tax code?

2) Is there a chance I will get some money back considering I've been taxed about 20% on all my earnings since September?

3)Who gives me the money back? Will it come in my pay?

I'm a little stressed about it. I had no idea I was paying too much tax but now I know I'm a little miffed that someone may have my money that isn't necessarily entitled to it. I know it's my own fault for not doing enough research though so I have nobody to blame.

    hi

the inland revenue issue a BR tax code to those people whose records they are researching as in your case and you also have to call your local tax office and tell them of your situation and they can usually show help you . as regards where the money is ,when it is all sorted out then you will be repaid .
