trying to download 4 on demand and the iplayer to watch tele on computer. i have a desktop recently rebooted from scratch by DELL and a very new laptop. But on both the message comes up saying (4ondemand or whatever the name of the file is) .exe is not a valid Win32 application.
I have no idea what to do, and am not very techie ... but could follow basic instructions if it's an easy problem to fix. That or i need to go and pay someone a lot of money to sort out what's probably an easy to fix problem.
have no techi friends as have just relocated ... ;(
Can anyone help please? Thank you thank you thank you if so ....

on my desk top it shows that i haven't got media player 10, so i tried to download it and it comes up with the same message (.exe not valid Win32 app etc)...
on my laptop i have all the necessary stuff and it still has the same messages
can't understand all the techie stuff but did try their FAQ to see if there was any similar questions. also emailed them. they said to download microsoft.net framework .... but i can't download that either cus it comes up with the same message.
arghhh ....

thanks for replying so fast to that thread!!!0 -
download the dotnet framework here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en
install it, then install media player 10 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx
then try it again, hope that helps!0 -
tried this and it just comes up with the same message ' xxx .exe is not a valid win32 application'.
i'm lost!
thank you though!0 -
Which OS do you have? I believe iplayer only supports XP or Vista.
My mate got the same error when trying to install iplayer on W2K0 -

I've had this problem and can no longer download anything on my laptop straight from the net, I have to download on a different PC and put the file onto a pen drive to install on my laptop. I was told it could be virus activity but I've scanned everything and found nothing, so would also be interested in any solutions to this problem.
ETA: also running XP sp2“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
i hadn't thought of downloading and putting onto a pen drive. i will try that!
if i find a solution (or you) please let me know. i googled and it does seem related to virus activity, but like you, there is nothing showing on my computer, and in the case of my laptop, i've barely used it, it's hardly out of the box.
sure someone would fix it, but not sure how much it might cost to sort that out.0
