Focus rattle when cornering-anyone else?

Options
Hi all

I recently bought a year-old focus and notice when cornering at anything above a slow speed there's a noise that sounds like a nut or ball bearing rolling about somewhere. It's definetly not in the cabin/boot and appears to be in a door or sill.

Has anyone else had this or can anyone suggest what it may be and if I could get it fixed under the warranty?

Thanks

Can you approximate the location and get a helper to try listen for the sound and move their ear while you drive. Try putting the passenger seat all the way forward, folding down rear seats, emptying the boot and removing parcel shelves, and have your helper make use of this space and drive extremely carefully.

Would like to say a small child would be helpful but I suspect police etc wouldn't be happy if they noticed, and be considered child abuse or something.

May also be worth asking in Ford focus forums first.

Also try driving slowly in a car park with steering full lock each way and listen for sounds then.
  • could ask my mechanic OH if u wanted a "professional" opinion?

although...PLEASE don't tell him I called him professional - I'll have to widen the door frames to fit his head and ego through! ;)
;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)

    Thanks, I would appreciate it.

As the other post said, get a derelict stretch of land and get a friend to sit in the car while you go around left and right on full lock.
Pinpoint the noise to the area, and you should be able to hear a rattle when you bang around this area when stationary i.e one of the door panels or possibly inside the sill.
Through axperience of over 30 years in the motor trade, most rattles are soon sorted using this method but now and again some take ages to find but once located take seconds to fix!!
    Good luck!!
