Need help with Virus Removal

I have Trojan Horse Downloader. Zlob. 12.E on my computer and I am not sure how to get it off. AVG says that it is quarantined but everytime I run spybot and it starts scanning for zlob viruses it says to check the error log which, a friend tells me, means that it is still on the computer.
Can anyone help me to remove this?
I have a fairly crap Windows 98 computer.
