Airport Parking (warning)

Hi,

I have just recently used APH Manachester for the first time, great location, well organised, helpful staff, quick pick on return...so why the warning?

Coming in from a transatlantic flight just wanting to get home, car park ready for us to take, quick look around the car and putting the bags in, sorted! Thankfully my son asked, "what's wrong with the front of the car" and basically the front bumper was pushed in from an impact.

It was clear from the body language of staff and the wry smiles that they knew it was damaged, but hoped it would have been missed. Most car parks are resolved from claims as soon as you take the car off the carpark, so be warned!

The damage amounts to £670 and the assessors have all said it would have taken a heavy imapct to achieve, so you would have known that you'd done it!

To give APH their due, no quibbles and they will pay in full for the damage, though it would have been a different story if my son wasn't more awake that me.

In future: pics when left and a detailed check.

Thats a useful tip. There are some companies which will only cover you for damage if you pay for an inspection when you first arrive at the car park.

Thank you. We're flying to Malta very early on Tuesday morning and getting back at midnight the following Tuesday. The company we're using (off-site at Birmingham) want £5 for an inspection which I know OH won't pay as its a company car, but do you think if I take pics Monday evening these would stand up in a case? I'll walk around the car when we return as this will now be on my mind - but what do you think?

    Thanks, Catt xx

Same applies to hire cars if you have to leave them in a car park without a proper handover. Take lots of photos !
