    Standard Surrey prices really.

I've been in bars in Central London where a double JD and Coke cost £24.00. Luckily Mr Expenses took care of that. :D

I'd understand it if it was a decent hotel type bar but this one fronts the hotel and resembles a public bar. Additionally Chertsey being the p1key HQ of Surrey is not exactly a choice location.
  • Was this at a function?

My brother was telling me about a wedding he went to at a big hotel (in north west) last summer where the tills in the function room bar failed and the staff advised people to go and use the normal hotel bar whilst they sorted them out.

Turns out that the function room bar was charging 20% more than the normal hotel prices. Even when they fixed them that bar remained strangely quiet for the rest of the evening.
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

No it was just the front bar we walked in off the street.

That really is sharp practice at the function your brother was at.

It was 2s 8d last time I bought a pint.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

£3.40 for a pint in a hotel is about the going rate.
If you want a cheap beer then a Supermarket own brand cooking lager can be yours for about £1 ;)
