sliding mirrored doors?

yes or no? modern or dated? just looking for opinions really as am thinking of fitting them to the wall at foot of bed, full width of the room. (currently full width fitted wardrobes with OLD woodchip doors.. :o:o )
Going for a really modern, minimalistic look
cheers

And if you do say yes, do you know wheres best to get them (including tracks)

Personally I don't like them, but they will make a room look bigger and lighter than it is.

I think they are nice, but a pain to keep clean and finger print free!! Def good for making your room look bigger and lighter.

Not sure where to get them from, but sliding doors are a good idea as they dont waste space because dont need to be pulled open.

    Go for it :)

We bought Stanley sliding doors (from Homebase or B&Q) and fitted them in front of old wardrobes. We took the doors off the original wardrobes and it really works well. The room looks more spacious and very light and modern. You can mix and match doors so you could have two glass doors and one mirrored.

We just took the old doors off our wardrobes and left the 'inards' then just fitted the doors around them. Bought the stanley ones from our local diy shop - a lot cheaper than B&Q and fitted the ourselves - Quite an easy job - although yet to finish them and they have been up for 6 years!!!!

I've got them in my master bedroom (already there when i moved in) they do look good and i think they do help make the room look bigger although they do have a bit of the 70's retro !!!!!! feel to them!

Snap - and I have to say I'm not that keen on them BUT, and its a big but:

If you stand in between the join you look a stone lighter :D

I discovered this when changing the bed months ago and when I looked across I was a thin thing again instead of a chunky monkey :rotfl:

Its possibly the only reason they are still there!!
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • We are about to fit them in our daughter's bedroom - I found nice doors at https://www.doorsdirect.co.uk

bit off topic but reminds me, i was working with my father last year at a bit posh house in Herts, couple in their 50's and was rewiring the house, the main bedroom had mirrored ceilings! Made a joke of it and the lady of the manor says 'oh they're gastly, we only lived here 3 weeks and they've so got to go!!' :A

.. 2 hours later the lord of the manor says in casual conversation 'we been here 8 years and love it, wouldnt change a thing!' :rotfl: :rotfl:

    cheers people
