Council tax and bailiffs trouble

One point that I would like to make however is that if you are receiving Housing Benefit you should be full entitled to Council Tax Relief. If this is awarded you are able to ask for your claim to be backdated to when your circumstances changed. The maximum time the claim can be backdated is 12 months.
If awarded, this would help you current situation considerably.
You've gone off the track there a bit, just have a check on my first post again.0 -
I don't even get income support or job seekers, I was told when I applied that I would only recieve national insurance contributions so I didn't bother carrying on signing on just for that. The only Income I have at the minute is housing benefit.
I would try to get JSA - it maybe that you have been a bit confused when they mentioned NI contributions. Initially, you get JSA based on your NI contributions and then you switch to income-based JSA.
Have you considered temping? its a way of getting some money together.0 -
Believe me if someone would give me work of any way shape or form I would do it. I do have interviews and job trials lined up but it's all waiting and that never helps solve anything especially worry and bailiffs.
On the JSA side, they told me that according to the law we had enough income as my partner recieved £10 child credit p/w for each of our children (3) and so it would only be my contributions that they would pay. :sigh:

Hi
It is irrelevent whether you get and JSA, it is essential that you sign on.
1. If you are not signing on and your NI is not paid, then you are setting yourself up for even more problems in a year or two when your entitlements are based on this years NI contributions.
2. Even if you get a null award, you can then access a number of other state and local benefits.
Finally have you actaully done what is suggested - applied for Council Tax Benefit for the period in which you owe money, rather than putting in an I&E relating to your current stuation. If you encounter a jobs worth, they are not going to tell you what to do.
Plase be aware that CTC debts are more problematic than most, so you need to take the advice given here rather than just batting it back.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

I'm sorry if that's how it seems but I aren't batting it back - I'm so stressed and obviously I don't understand the answers in comparison to my story.
The period I owe money for my previous houses council tax is the time when I had returned to work and was struggling to repay built up debts as well as normal day to day ones. I wasn't aware that a) When I was working I could claim council tax benefit and that b) I could make a back dated claim now at this moment in time for a previous address in a completely different area (100 miles away).
That's why I'm confused and believing people are forgetting my issue.
I'm sorry if I seem ignorant or aggresive but I am seriously stressed to the max, obviously I'm struggling to explain things properly and I'm just ready to completely break down.0 -
Hi
Would it be easier to talk to someone on the phone?

First talk to Community Legal Advice if you have nor sent the vunerable persons letter.
Then please talk to CAB etc about JSA and making a back-dated claim for CTB. One thing you need is you annual income record over the last 18 months. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
