Just moved into my first home. Am wondering how do I go about getting a TV aerial installed and how much does this cost approx?

depends....you looking to get Freeview, are you in a bad reception area ?

are you sure that there is not one installed already ?

You can buy roof aerials for about £20 in argos and go up a ladder and screw it in yourself (or just put it in the attic). Are you sure the house hasn't got one?

Nope, has not got one. It is wires only. Everything is an optional extra with Bloor Homes! Would want to get freeview, not sure if it's in a bad reception area or not.

Go check your postcode at http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tva.exe? for Analogue, and http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe? for freeview....

Bear in mind that Argos sell a very limited range of aerials - you may need to venture off to a more 'technical' supplier like CPC

good freeview aerial if you need one is about £40 + about £30 to fit

if you are in a good reception area then B+q do one for £20 that you could fit in your loft, mines in the loft in a poor reception area + works ok

Daughter just moved into a new build & got a guy in to fit Aerial. As with your house TJMD the wiring was in place. The guy fitted an aerial in the attic & booster & splitter box in cupboard for £150. Did not have the heart to tell her I could have done it for £50.

My old man would have killed me if I'd GABI (got a bloke in) cagey..... luckily I out MSE'd him when he wanted satellite TV installed (and wanted it in a non-standard place) and fitted it while he was on holiday, so got some brownie points there

My aerial was £17 (for a monster from CPC - stated gain on the aerial is 23dB) and the 25dB booster (yes I need the lot) was £18 (again from CPC), handful of connectors (couple of quid) and a few cups of tea - jobs done, neatly hidden in the loftspace.

Then I poke my head out of the door - and some of the 'pro' jobs make my toes curl - masts too thin for the job, 1" alloy masts where they should be something more substantial, holes drilled through into the attic with no sealant, no drip loops.....
