Wireless wii help

I have recently connected my wii to the internet with my wireless router and noticed that the standby light has now turned to oragne when the wii is in standby mode.

I read on the internet that the wii is constantly connected to the internet even when the power is off, but when im not using my wireless router i always turn it off, so is their any point in me leaving the wii in standby mode or should i just turn it off at the mains?

Thanks

The colour of the light changed with the last update, the wii doesn't stay connected when it's off so if your router is switched off it makes sense to save some more power and unplug the wii too.

If you switch the wii off by holding down the power button on the wii itself the light will go red, only goes orange when using the remote to turn it off.
