Twins dont cost twice a single baby! Only silly people buy two of everything.

You dont need 2 cots to begin with,
Its impossible to push two pushchairs at once,
Clothes are not really an issue as the second you say your having twins people arrive in droves on your door step to give you bags and bags of cute outfits that their kids have grown out of,

Buying another potty is hardly going to break the bank,
As for milk you have boobs for a reason,
You can cut down on the cost of nappies by using washables or terries in the house and saving the pampers for night times and going out,

As for other baby items ebay, freecycle and carboots are gold mines!

if your claiming child tax credit you will also miss out on £545 a year(probably more now) as your only allowed to claim for one baby element at a time...and triplets will miss out on over £1000

whilst i definitely agree you can find some baby bargains..twin prams are soooo expensive AND in quite short supply!for example on mothercare there are about 100 single prams+about 10 twin prams and out of that 10 not all are suitable from birth...and whilst breast is best not everyone wants to do it...i know from experience that the sleep deprivation would've finished me off if i've been feeding newborn twins for 4 hours at a time! same for the terry nappies..i was sleeping maybe an hour a night after having my twins and making more work for myself just seemed ludicrous..
    2x sterilisers
    2x bedding
    approx 16 bottles+teats
    2x bouncy chairs

you've also gotta think about the cost of childcare for twins

btw....to the lady having twins..the white cots in ikea for £40 each are the best cots ive ever had!my twins are 2 now and still in them as they convert to floor level sleepers

Twins can be born at the same time - my two were born at 12.35pm on May 1st last year. For their birth certificate we had to put them down as 12.35 and 12.35 + 10 secs!!

It made no difference to the CB tho as we already had another daughter!

Hi, being nosey here, but how where they born at the same time? Never heard of that before (genuinely interested by the way, I also have twins, 8 mins between them) :D

We had our first child then just under 12 mths had our second. Didn't have to buy another cot as we moved our first to a bed. Then we had twins and did have to buy another car seat, another cot (they shared the same one for a few months but they get too big after a while to share) and it is different to having two children close in age cause you have two in nappies for longer. I breastfed them so we didn't have the expense of milk and bottles. We did had to buy another double pushchair though.

I know the twins and multiple birth organisations have been trying for years to get the first child rate of child benefit paid for both or more children when the first born are multiples.

    Hi,

They were born by c-section, cords were clamped simultaneously to avoid twin to twin transfusion occurring and out they both came. The hospital staff were laughing at the time that the twins being registered in the same minute was going to play havoc with their computer.. I breastfed mine too - would have cost a fortune in formula otherwise.. just about to stop now they are 1.

Crikey it must have been all systems go when you had them  . Glad they were both ok :D you've done really well to feed them for so long, I fed mine till they were about 9 1/2 months then they went straight onto normal milk (health visitor said they would be fine and they did great on it) so luckily we never had the expense of the formula milk.
