Do I still need to download and install sp1 for vista? I've been told that I will get it from Vista's aotomatic update, but I'm not sure if I have it yet or know how to find out I do have the program installed.

Click Control Panel, then Click System and under the Windows Version it will either say Service Pack 1 if it's installed, or if it isn't it won't.
If it's not then it's recommended that you get it, but we can come to that in a bit :0 -
It's weird because I've had some customers say it was downloaded with a routine Windows Update, and yet I have others where it never shows. Im not sure if its only on certain versions that it's availble through Windows Update.
Either way, you should install it.

I think it may be because it's a very long roll out period, which is usually the case with service packs/substantial upgrades. I guess so as not to overwhelm their servers. I seem to remember the same thing when IE7 came out, some people didn't see it in their updates for up to month after others. Could be wrong though.
