Driving Lessons!

Hi!

I'm trying to find the best deal for my girlfriend to start driving lessons. She wants to pass as quickly as possible so would like to do double lessons or even possibly a crash course but I'm not keen on her doing that!

Can anyone recommend any good nationwide deals or any local ones perhaps from the North Liverpool area?

As a former driving instructor i just want to highlight a point you have mentioned - a crash course.
The government for some time have been lookig at having a minimum amount of time it should take to have lessons - say 6 months, as this gives a learner a good opportunity of hopefully driving in many driving conditions.
Some tutors do 'pass in a week' which has some benefits, but a lot of people, unless they are getting extra driving lessons with family etc, can really struggle with confidence.

Driving is reall difficult to learn, its meant to be quite slow and confidence building. I dont know your situation, and there may be really good reasons for the speed, but if i was to advise, i would say allow as long as you can, and she will getteh longerterm benefits. I know people who have passed in a week, and had an accident quickly into their driving career and been so scared of getting behind a wheel, they took out confidence building lessons with a driving instructor.

Like i say i am sure if you goggled or looked at yell.com there would be some instructors who would offer an intense course, but i would seriously look at the bigger picture.
Any how its only my opinion...good luck with it all.......

Driving lessons are so expensive. I started learning last May...my intention was to have 2-3 lessons a week to hopefully pass within 6 months however, my instructor is always busy or on holiday and i therefore get one lesson every 1-3 weeks hence why I'm still learning. It's been going on that long that I actually have lost interest...I'm currently looking into going with BSM providing they can offer me more lessons.

No deals on lessons around really unfortunately. Any there are will just be introductory. Best ever deal happened just over a year ago and was BSM vouchers sold by Halfords that worked out at something silly like £9 per hour, and there were costco ones at about £11 an hour.

Unfortunately you have to pay your way and it's not cheap. Then, neither is driving.

Cheapest is not always best value when it comes to paying for a service, this is a life skill, not a tin of beans.;)

2nd that... I say if you have not been recommended to a ADI then go with the AA or the like, the instructors have to go through such a tight training programme you can be assured of quality, plus say the car your learning it was to break the day before your test for instance, another brand new car of the same type will be provided straight away, however with a independent you may have to cancel your test or end up with a different make/model of car which your not used to, however if there is a good independent in you area that you have been recommended to then go with them.

don't go with bsm
because a number of their insturctors are still trainee's as they are learning to become an ADI whilst teaching you

imo go for some recommended ADI in your area (usually cheaper) or go with AA as all their instructors are fully qualified
