How do I see where I've been?

I recently bought a new computer. On the computer that I used to have if you were on a site such as e-bay, the items which had been previously viewed and also the page numbers were displayed in a different colour text, purple if I remember rightly.
Does anybody know how to enable this feature? I use Windows XP if it makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

On mine it is the little clock thingy between the Star for Favourites and the Envelope for Outlook and comes up as History on the Standard Buttons in View.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Thanks for the reply but it's not history that i'm after. I'm trying to enable the feature that shows if you've looked at a particular page number or item especially on e-bay. If for example i'd looked at pages 1 & 2 but not 3 & 4 then 1 & 2 would be turned purple and 3 & 4 would remain black.
Also use Mozilla firefox rather than Internet Explorer, again don't know if it makes any difference.0 -
This happens for me too. It is a Firefox issue that seems to affect only some people. I am not too bothered as I prefer Opera anyway. You can get more info and a suggested solution here: http://forum.ccleaner.com/lofiversion/index.php/t1891.htmlEh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here!0

It is probably the browser switch making the difference. Browse around Yahoo for a few seconds in IE and see if the links go purple. I don't know much about Mozilla (I use Opera) but there may be a setting you can change to enable this (which I agree is a useful feature, also missing from Opera BTW).0 -

Opera 8.02 -> Tools -> Preferences -> Web Pages -> Normal Link Color / Visited Link Color

Thanks. Seems it was switched on anyway, just doesn't work in pages where the author has designated a colour to the link I think (which appears to be most pages), oh well.0
