Oops wrong print cartridges can anyone help..

I bought a Canon MP210 printer recently (£15 after cashback :D) but read that the cartridges don't last long. It says it takes PG 40 (BLACK) and CL 41 (COLOUR) cartridges but someone on here (the grabbit board) said PG50 and CL51 are the same cartridges with more ink in them therefore a better buy.

I trundled off to play.com and mx2.com to buy them (genuine ones) for £30..I've just put my black cartridge in and it says its not compatible :( I know its probably my own fault, but can I do anything to make them compatible? or can anyone help me please?

If the worst comes to the worst I will put them on ebay for a few pounds so that I dont lose my whole £30 but ideally i would like themto work!! :o

I have a Canon MP160 and, having just looked at the online manual, it says that it uses the same cartridges PG40 + CL41 or PG50 + CL51 (high yield) so the info you were given re the cartridge types seem correct.

Can't explain why it states that the cartridges are not compatible though - I've never tried the high yield ones in my printer yet.

give Canon a call they should be able to help you. Double check the manual to see if it says anything about those ones being compatible. I did just have a look on their website and they don't mention those cartridges for that machine. However if you're sure they are the right ones I can't see why they wouldn't work, have you tried the colour cartridge? It could be a faulty cartridge but if both won't work it's unlikely. Defo give Canon a call.

    Hi,

This is the link to Canon's spec for the MP210 http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Multifunctionals/Inkjet/PIXMA_MP210/index.asp?specs=1 they don't list the high capacity only the basic cartridges as compatible with the printer.

    Looks like ebay!
