PDA Excel Random Number Generator thingy ....

Does any one have or knows how to create a random number "thing" that you can put in one number and then a higher number and push something that will create a random number for raffles which have no tickets? (I hope that does not sound too daft?)

I have seen it on another guys PDA but cant remember where.

I use a Mio P550

If it can make a noise and take about 5 to 10 seconds it would be great.

Hope you can help or even lead me to where I can get this information.

Thanks in advance - Mike :A

    Hi Mikearm,

I had a google around and I found this. It's shareware, so you'll probably get nag screens to register if you like it, but you don't have to unless you want support etc.

Failing that, if you let me know what version of Excel you have I could knock you something up over the weekend.

I should be careful if you are using this to "draw" winning numbers in a raffle/lottery, you might just find that some pedantic so-and-so (like me) will point out that you will not be producing true random numbers.

What you will have are "pseudo-random" numbers. This is because someone wrote instructions for the computer to generate these numbers. The fact that there are instructions means that the output cannot be random, the computer will be "following orders".

True random numbers, of which you actually buy books, (very boring !) are generated by monitoring things like atmospheric or stellar noise.
